Varsity XC – at SPAA Championship at Southside Park

Both Boys and Girls Take Runner-Up Spot at SPAA Championships

Oct. 15, 2018 – The Trailblazers returned to Southside Park in Newton for the SPAA Championship Meet, but this time the weather was warm and sunny. Our boys team was short-handed and had to compete without its #2 runner; however, the three remaining runners put in outstanding performances to secure second place in the team competition. Sophomore Jackson McGeough led the race from wire to wire and recorded the second-fastest time of his career as he demolished the field. Jackson was joined on the SPAA All-Conference squad by senior JT Faccone (9th place) and junior Ethan Mason (10th place).

On the girls side, the Trailblazers held off a late-charging Hickory Christian team to claim second place in the team standings, as 8th grader Adina Jacobson (2nd place) and senior Ally Fleming (6th place) collected All-Conference honors for their efforts. Ally ran a personal record in this race, and became the first Woodlawn athlete (male or female) to be selected to an All-Conference team for four years.
