August 25: Woodlawn vs. Hickory Christian
The varsity soccer team kicked off conference play this afternoon again Hickory Christian on the brand new Alumni Field. The ‘Blazers began the game with great poise and composure. They were able to connect 20+ passes through the midfield, and generate several strong possessions for the team. In the second half the solid effort continued despite fatigue setting in. The ‘Blazers continued to connect passes and win balls out of the air. Sophomore Nick Trovato played a strong goal in game, recording twelve saves and three intercepted crosses. In the end the Knights prevailed by a score of 9-0 through ball movement and a concerted attack.
